Nursing Now Ireland Aims

The aim of the Nursing Now Ireland campaign is: that by December 2020 that the profile, role and contribution of nurses and midwives will be shared and accessible to civic society, schools, higher education institutions, professional groups, trade unions and broader Irish society; informed by events throughout 2020.

Nursing Now Ireland Objectives



To achieve broad representation on the National Nursing Now Ireland Steering Committee from key stakeholders in society.

  • To develop specific Nursing Now Ireland marketing, promotional and education material to be distributed within the professions and broader society.

  • To promote and share information about the Nursing Now campaign within the nursing and midwifery professions and broader society.

  •  To develop a schedule of key events to promote the Nursing Now campaign and to celebrate the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife.

  •  To promote and encourage the establishment of local Nursing Now Ireland groups that will carry the message of the campaign.

  •  To develop a Nursing Now Ireland Ambassadors programme to engage nurses and midwives and foster ownership and support within the profession.

  • To coordinate a series of local and national events to celebrate the International Day of the Midwife (5th May) and the International Day of the Nurse (12th May)
